What September will bring.
While I was out on errands yesterday, I had a chance to chat with a convenience store operator. It was my local Shell station and due to circumstances, I had the time to inquire if they were planning to participate in the new AGCO program of beer wine and ready-to-drink beverages in their store. I have been working with the LCBO for over 20 years so I am well-versed in the operations of both the stores and the wholesale side of the LCBO. It made it easy for me to understand their concerns and the challenges they will have to overcome to participate.
I started Katy Moore Wines to connect people with the great wines, spirits, libations in general that they are not aware of. To act as a bridge between Ontarians and the monopoly. The LCBO is such a large operation I saw a niche for someone who is well versed in all things alcohol as well as how the monopoly operates making us the perfect solution for stocking your home.
After my conversation I realized that there will be some tweaks at the LCBO store side of things. The most important thing for my clients being the change to their return policy.
I wanted to write a message to get the information out there. I’ve only been able to find the refund policy update on the doing business with the lcbo website. A site for wholesalers and agents to use, not typically visited by the public. The following link will take you to their announcement. I’ve also included the policy below.
The below summary captures key takeaways to LCBO’s Return Policy:
Unopened Products- A receipt is required for all returns/exchanges (within 30 days of purchase)
Product Quality Complaints A receipt is required for refund (within 30 days of purchase)
Product quality returns with valid receipt beyond 30 days or no receipt, will be exchange only (no refund)
Product Recalls Returns for products subject to a product recall with public notice will continue to be refunded with or without a receipt.
LCBO’s Return Policy updates will be reflective on September 5, 2024 on lcbo.com
